“The Lamb” recontextualizes the story of Karbala through the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim’s son, where the “lamb” offered as a replacement for Ismail is symbolic of the fated killing of Imam Hussain—the heir of the Prophets—thousands of years later. Hussain’s haunting silhouette faces the piercing red dawn of Ashura, towards the gruesome inevitability of his martyrdom.
